Star Rfm Sdn Bhd 'SRFM', a wholly owned subsidiary of the Star Publications (M) Bhd, is one of Malaysia's top commercial radio broadcasters, currently managing two major radio channels, namely 988 and Red FM. SRFM was incorporated on 6 February 1995 and commenced its business operation on 1st April 1996.

As the first radio station in the country to be equipped with sophisticated studio automation system and manned by a team of creative programming personnel, SRFM successfully broadcasts its programmes in three languages, i.e. Chinese, English and Malay to listeners throughout the Peninsular Malaysia with the call sign of Rfm on 8 May 1996.

With an additional license being granted on 26 June 1997, the Chinese language broadcast began operating 24 hours on 988 channel whereas the second channel, Red fm, covers programmes in English and Malay.

Star Rfm is committed to diversify the power of radio by embarking on the multimedia solutions of 'Going Beyond Radio Airwaves'. The goals are to eradicate communication barriers and to initiate technology to promote the country's development. Among the multimedia platforms are KL Monorail, Sound Ads and User Generated Radio as well as initiatives for new business technologies.

In Year 2008, Star Rfm Sdn Bhd has received the Promising Company Award at the third Business of the Year 2007 Awards organised by SMI and SME Worldwide Network. The award is given to young companies which have had above average revenue growth and is awarded by the SMI & SME Worldwide Network.
