Star-Jobs Red Box Karaoke

Heartiest congratulation to the winners of the Star-Jobs Office Scenario Contest:

Mr A, an employee of my company received a second warning letter from the company for his misbehaviour. His immediate supervisor, Ms B came to me, expressing concern, claiming that Mr A accused that the incident was related to her. She said Mr A threatened to "make her pay for this" because she alerted the management but the truth is she did not do so at all.

That same night, when Ms B went out to her car, there were scratches down both sides that were not there before. The scratches look like they were made with a knife or some kind of sharp object. Ms B said she is scared and also scared that her husband might do something to Mr A to "put him in his place."

What should I do to help to resolve this problem?

Part 01
Solution 01:

Talk to a higher level management staff and voice out your concerns. This staff should advise Mr A that whatever disciplinary action against him was the sole discretion of management and not influenced by others.

Solution 02:

Firstly, there was no evidence that Mr A is the culprit responsible for the incident. Thus it would be best not to accuse him. However, it would be advisable to let the incident out in the open so that everyone knows about it and keep an eye out. Take Mr A aside and tell him that Ms B is not the one who caused him to get the second warning letter, it was his own doing that resulted in it. Ask how you can assist to make it better. Do mention that Ms B is extremely upset over the car incident and seeks Mr A’s help if he knows anything about the incident.

Solution 03:

Firstly, you have to advise Ms B to check if she is really sure it was Mr. A who did it. If she is certain, she should report it to her boss, the company HR or make a police report if she has the evidence. She should strongly advise her husband not to take the law into his own hands because it is not worth the risk.

Winner: Wong Wing Leong (xxxxxx-xx-5385)
Solution 04:

If I am their colleague, I will listen to Mr A & Ms B separately. Then I will ask both of them to talk to each other if there is a misunderstanding.

Winner: Shirley (xxxxxx-xx-5508)
Solution 05:

Ms. B should investigate actually who scratch the car. She cannot blindly accuse Mr. A. Ms. B also needs to advise Mr. A to improve his behaviour, regardless of the warning letter. Ms. B must help Mr. A to identify his problem and try to find a solution together.
