After months of slogging, you have finally completed a difficult project and your customer shows his gratitude by delivering an expensive hamper to your company. The contents of the hamper turn out to be abalone, birds' nest and all your favourite goodies. However, you notice your colleague staring enviously at the package and one of them even hints that you should share it.
Should you ignore them and be thick-skinned enough to keep the hamper all to yourself? After all, you have earned it. Or, should you be a good soul and share the contents?

What I will do is bring the contents of the hamper to a restaurant and get them to cook, and then invite all my colleagues to the dinner. I will also get the boss to pay for it, this is the fairest way.

I will thank all colleagues who have contributed in the project and have a lucky draw for each item in the hamper. This will boost their morale and at the same time, let them have fun.

Of course, I would want to have the best of both worlds - to be a team player and also to enjoy the fruits of my effort. What I would do is to invite everyone to a pot-luck party at my place and tell them that I will prepare some lovely dishes from the hamper goodies. Of course, I will limit the ingredients, and that way, I would not be on the losing side as they will also have to prepare a dish. In the end, nobody loses and nobody hates me!

I will share the hamper with all my colleagues but I will take a few items for myself. This will give me an opportunity to get help back in the future when I need it. If I was selfish enough to keep it all to myself, this will jeopardise my relationship with my colleagues, and I might not get any help when I need in the future.

I will divide the hamper in the office (when everyone is around) but I will have first pick at whatever goodies there are. Do not be greedy and desire everything because you have to remember, you are a part of the project team and though you might have contributed the most, you might have failed without the co-operation from the rest. Since the hamper goodies are mainly raw goodies, allow your colleagues to prepare it for everyone. Hence, you would not feel burdened to prepare the goodies but yet you still get to enjoy it with everyone else.
